Africa Oil Week (AOW), a premier event in the global energy sector, will relocate from Cape Town to Accra, Ghana, with its next conference scheduled from September 15 to 18, 2025. The announcement, made by the Ghanaian government in collaboration with AOW organizers and the Africa Prosperity Network, highlights Ghana’s rising influence within Africa’s energy landscape and its aspiration to become a central hub for energy investment across the continent.
In a televised address, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo expressed pride in hosting the upcoming event, describing it as a defining moment for Ghana and Africa’s energy future. “I am personally delighted to endorse Africa Oil Week and welcome its move from Cape Town to Accra,” he said, extending thanks to Sankofa Events, AOW’s organizing body, for selecting Ghana as the new host.

At a press conference held today at Accra’s Kempinski Hotel, Minister of Trade and Industry Herbert Krapa affirmed Ghana’s commitment to hosting a summit that will convene African ministers, national oil companies, and regulators. “Our objective is to establish Africa Oil Week as the continent’s premier energy dialogue platform, fostering transformative discussions and partnerships to advance Africa’s energy future,” he stated.
The CEO of Ghana’s Petroleum Commission, Egbert Faibille Junior, further highlighted the significance of hosting AOW in Ghana, aligning it with the country’s vision for a competitive upstream sector. “Africa Oil Week’s arrival in Ghana marks a milestone for the continent, aligning with our commitment at the Petroleum Commission to strengthen Ghana’s upstream potential,” Faibille Junior remarked.
Africa Prosperity Network, a strategic partner of AOW, emphasized the value of empowering African service providers to access international energy projects. A representative noted, “Hosting a world-class event like AOW in Accra is a proud achievement for Ghana and Africa’s oil and gas sector.”
Scheduled to take place at the Kempinski Hotel, Africa Oil Week 2025 promises to be a vital platform for advancing dialogue, innovation, and collaboration in Africa’s energy sector, positioning Ghana at the heart of the continent’s energy ambitions.
