Election 2024: Catholic Bishops Commend EC for Conducting Successful Polls
The Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference (GCBC) has applauded the Electoral Commission (EC) for its professionalism, transparency, and efficiency in organizing and managing the December 7, 2024, parliamentary and presidential elections.
In a congratulatory message signed by its President, Most Rev. Matthew Kwasi Gyamfi, the GCBC acknowledged the EC’s dedication to upholding the integrity of the electoral process despite the inevitable challenges associated with elections.
“Despite the challenges that inevitably accompany the conduct of elections in any democracy, the EC’s dedication to upholding the integrity of the electoral process has been evident, ensuring that Ghana continues to serve as a model of democracy on the African continent,” the statement read.
The GCBC particularly commended the EC Chairperson, Jean Mensa, for her exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment to the Commission’s mandate. It noted that under her stewardship, the EC had delivered a credible electoral process, thereby reinforcing public confidence in Ghana’s electoral system.
The message also praised the EC’s effective collaboration with stakeholders such as political parties, security agencies, civil society organizations, and the electorate, which ensured a peaceful and transparent election that reflected the will of the people.
The Bishops further prayed for continued peace and stability in the country, urging all stakeholders to work together in unity, respect, and commitment to national development.
The statement concluded with a call for God’s guidance and blessings on the nation and its leaders as they serve the people with wisdom, integrity, and dedication.
