Bishop Salifu Amoako, leader of Alive Chapel International and father of the 16-year-old boy involved in a tragic car accident that claimed the lives of two young girls in East Legon on October 12, 2024, has publicly condemned the actions of some of his church members. These individuals reportedly assaulted a journalist from the EIB Network following a court hearing on Thursday, October 17, 2024.
Speaking to his congregation during a service on Sunday, October 20, Bishop Amoako expressed deep regret over the incident, calling the behavior of his church members disgraceful and uncalled for. He stressed the need for restraint, compassion, and understanding during such trying times.
“Control yourselves, ACI family. I urge you to have self-control,” Bishop Amoako said. “Some of you came to the court and disgraced me. You didn’t behave wisely. You’ve added more battles to my already heavy burdens. What you did at the court was very disgraceful. You shouldn’t have done that.”
The bishop also highlighted the damage done to his reputation and the unnecessary strain placed on him, emphasizing that the case is now in court and should be handled through legal channels, not violence.
“Do you know the damage you’ve done to my life? Now I am fighting what has happened, and the media is fighting me too,” he lamented. “We don’t go to court to fight, we go there to interpret the law.”
Bishop Amoako further admonished his followers, stating that their actions could have led to arrests and legal consequences. “Some of you were lucky you weren’t arrested. You went there to mess up, and by now, you should be in jail. I have not called you to fight for me,” he cautioned.
He concluded by urging his congregation to embrace empathy and dialogue, reminding them that the tragic event and subsequent legal process required sensitivity and respect for all parties involved.
