OKESS Student, 16, Arrested for Possession of Locally Manufactured Firearm

A 16-year-old Form Two student of Osei Kyeretwie Senior High School (OKESS) has been arrested by the Tafo Pankrono Divisional Police Command for unlawfully possessing a locally manufactured firearm.
The arrest occurred following a routine dormitory inspection conducted by school authorities on the morning of Wednesday, May 14, 2025, around 9:30 a.m. During the search, the firearm was discovered in the student’s belongings. School officials immediately alerted law enforcement, leading to the student’s arrest.
In the course of police questioning, the student alleged that the firearm belonged to his stepfather, Mr. Daniel Owusu Baafi. Mr. Baafi was subsequently apprehended by police on Thursday, May 15, 2025.
Both the student and his stepfather have since been granted police enquiry bail. They are scheduled to report to the police on Monday, May 19, 2025, for further investigation.
The development was confirmed in a statement issued on Sunday, May 18, by Deputy Superintendent of Police Godwin Ahianyo, Head of Public Affairs for the Ashanti Regional Police Command.
