Sammy Gyamfi Apologizes Over Cash Gift to Nana Agradaa

Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi, has issued an apology following public backlash over a viral video showing him handing out cash to Nana Agradaa, the controversial former fetish priestess turned evangelist.
The video, which has sparked widespread commentary online, shows Nana Agradaa—born Patricia Oduro Koranteng—approaching Mr. Gyamfi’s vehicle and requesting US dollars. The footage then captures Mr. Gyamfi counting several dollar notes, which Agradaa quickly snatches and flaunts to bystanders.
Addressing the incident, Mr. Gyamfi described the exchange as a private gesture that was never intended for public attention. “I understand the uproar that this gesture has generated, particularly from comrades who are sincerely hurt by the same. To all such comrades, I AM SINCERELY SORRY for this unfortunate act of indiscretion. I respect and appreciate your views,” he stated.
He also expressed gratitude to those who had shown him support amid the controversy, acknowledging their solidarity during what he called a challenging time.
Reaffirming his values, Mr. Gyamfi underscored that his principles about serving in public office remain firm. “My view of public office as a privilege to serve society, solve problems and help others has not changed,” he said.
