Four Suspects Arrested in Connection with MoMo Vendor’s Murder in Aflao

The Ghana Police Service has apprehended four individuals suspected of involvement in the brutal killing of a Mobile Money (MoMo) vendor in Aflao, in the Volta Region.

In a statement issued on May 12, 2025, the Volta Regional Police Command announced that the suspects were arrested on May 10 during a coordinated, intelligence-led operation. The operation was a joint effort by the Regional Police Intelligence Department (RPID), the SWAT Unit, the Operation Motherland Taskforce, and a local community watch group known as ‘ACTION NOW’.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Michael Sewornu, 34; Korku Agboada, 43; Atsu Agbagla, 36; and Utsuku Onyeso, 22, a Nigerian national. They are currently in police custody and assisting with investigations.

The tragic incident occurred on April 28, 2025, around 6:15 p.m., when five unidentified gunmen attacked and fatally shot Christopher Ahordo, a MoMo vendor, at Gbagblakope near the Diamond Cement factory in Aflao. The attackers reportedly made off with a bag believed to contain cash.

The suspects are scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, May 13, 2025.

The police have reiterated their call for public cooperation, urging residents to remain vigilant and share credible information to aid ongoing efforts to combat crime in the region.
