GUTA Urges Traders to Reduce Prices as Cedi Strengthens

The Ghana Union of Traders’ Associations (GUTA) has issued a strong call to traders across the country to immediately reduce the prices of goods and services in light of the cedi’s recent appreciation.
In a concise yet firm statement, GUTA urged the trading community to reflect the improved exchange rate in their pricing. “We wish to appeal to the trading community to adjust prices of goods and services,” the union stated.
GUTA emphasized that the cedi has recorded “significant gains” against major foreign currencies. This development, according to the association, should lead to tangible price reductions and provide much-needed financial relief to consumers.
“We believe it is time for the consuming public to benefit from the currency stability,” the union asserted, calling on traders to act swiftly.
The statement, signed by GUTA President Dr. Joseph Obeng, was clear in its intention—this is more than a polite request; it’s a firm appeal for action to pass the benefits of a stronger currency onto Ghanaians.
