Security Curfews Continue Across Several Regions Amid Heightened Measures

As of October 28, authorities are enforcing strict security curfews in multiple areas across the country to curb potential unrest and ensure public safety. The curfews limit movement in public spaces and strictly prohibit carrying weapons or ammunition during designated hours. Authorities may lift or adjust these restrictions without prior notice.

Curfew hours vary by location:

  • Bawku (Upper East Region): 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.
  • Bimbilla and Kpatinga (Northern Region): 12:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m.
  • Bomaa (Ahafo Region): 11:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.
  • Bunkpurugu (North East Region): 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
  • Chereponi (North East Region): 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.
  • Drobo, Japekrom, Babianiha, Kwasibourkrom, Mpuasu, Basekrom, Kojokesekrom, and Katakyiekrom (Bono Region): 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
  • Sampa (Bono Region): 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
  • Nkwanta (Oti Region): 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
  • Saboba (Northern Region): 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.

These curfews are accompanied by heightened security measures and checkpoints, which could lead to delays for both local transit and commercial activities. Local opposition to the curfews could lead to protests in some areas, although authorities are expected to enforce strict crowd control and disband any gatherings that may arise.

Authorities urge the public to stay informed on curfew updates and remain cautious in the affected areas.
