Trade Minister Engages GUTA, AGI, FABAG Over Rising Price

The Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, is currently holding a high-level closed-door meeting with leaders of the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA), the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), and the Food and Beverage Association of Ghana (FABAG).
The discussions are centered on addressing the persistent rise in the cost of goods and services, with a focus on price regulation and other critical challenges facing both businesses and consumers.
This meeting comes against the backdrop of a gradually recovering economy, marked by a slight appreciation of the local currency and a slow but steady decline in inflation. Despite these encouraging indicators, many Ghanaians are yet to experience relief, as high prices continue to impact everyday life.
Today’s dialogue aims to identify and implement practical measures that will translate recent macroeconomic gains into tangible benefits for traders and consumers. Key topics under consideration include the enforcement of fair pricing practices, the implications of import duties, and the development of supportive policies to ease pressure on local enterprises.
The outcomes of the meeting are expected to inform government strategies designed to stabilise market prices and boost public confidence in the economy.
