Tullow Resumes Drilling in Ghana’s Jubilee Field, Signaling Renewed Investment

Tullow Ghana and its partners have officially restarted drilling operations in the Jubilee Field, ushering in a new phase of investment in Ghana’s vital energy sector. The two-year drilling programme, which kicks off in May 2025, aims to enhance oil production and operational efficiency in one of West Africa’s most prominent oil fields.

This new initiative follows the successful conclusion of a previous four-year drilling programme in December 2024, which saw the completion of 18 new wells—delivered six months ahead of schedule and under budget. The earlier campaign earned praise for its strong safety record, efficiency, and cost control.

The revived programme will be implemented in stages, with initial operations starting in May and additional drilling planned for November, continuing into 2026. Building on the momentum of past achievements, Tullow is committed to raising the bar in drilling performance.

Jean-Médard Madama, Managing Director of Tullow Ghana, expressed optimism about the new phase:
“This is an exciting moment for us. The restart of drilling reflects another milestone in our journey in Ghana and shows our confidence in the country’s resource base. Even as the field matures, we are confident in its capacity to deliver value—for our shareholders, partners, and the people of Ghana.”

Though the Jubilee Field is entering a more mature phase of its lifecycle, it remains a crucial asset for both production and revenue generation. The new drilling effort is designed to tap further into its potential and unlock additional value.

Ahead of the restart, Tullow completed a 16-day maintenance operation to upgrade field infrastructure and mitigate operational risks, setting the stage for a smooth and productive drilling campaign.
