Vice President Prof. Jane Opoku-Agyemang Returns Home After Full Recovery

Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has returned to Ghana after making a full recovery from an illness that had kept her out of the public eye for several weeks. She arrived in Accra from London, United Kingdom, to a warm and heartfelt welcome at the Kotoka International Airport.
President John Dramani Mahama and First Lady Lordina Mahama led the group of well-wishers who received her at the airport. The President officially confirmed her return during a stop in Dodowa, Greater Accra Region, as part of his ongoing “Thank You Tour” on Friday, May 16.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang initially fell ill on Friday, March 28, 2025, and was admitted to the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) the next day for treatment. Following medical advice, she commenced a three-week leave on April 7 and subsequently travelled abroad for further evaluation and recovery.
In a brief statement upon her return, the Vice President expressed gratitude to Ghanaians for their prayers and support during her time away. She also extended her appreciation to the medical team at UGMC and thanked President Mahama and his brother, Ibrahim Mahama, for their unwavering care and encouragement.
