Wontumi Arrested by EOCO After CID Interrogation

Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, widely known as “Chairman Wontumi” and the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has been taken into custody by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO). The arrest occurred shortly after he exited the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters in Accra.
Wontumi had reported to the CID for further interrogation regarding allegations of illegal mining activities, including operations in forest reserves and unauthorized entry into protected areas. He had earlier turned himself in as required by the conditions of his bail and was directed to return for additional questioning, which he did.
His arrest by EOCO marks a new development in the ongoing investigations.
