Chief of Staff Summons Sammy Gyamfi Over Viral Cash Gift to Nana Agradaa

The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, has summoned the Acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi, in connection with a widely circulated video showing him publicly handing over a cash gift to evangelist and former fetish priestess, Nana Agradaa—legally known as Patricia Oduro Koranteng.

In the viral footage, Mr. Gyamfi is seen giving an undisclosed sum of foreign currency, reportedly in U.S. dollars, to Nana Agradaa. The act has sparked a wave of public criticism and raised concerns about the ethical standards expected of individuals in public office.

Sources at the Jubilee House confirmed that Mr. Gyamfi has been asked to appear before the Chief of Staff to explain the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The controversy comes at a sensitive time, following President John Dramani Mahama’s recent launch of a Code of Conduct for Public Officials—a key initiative in the administration’s anti-corruption drive, emphasizing integrity, transparency, and accountability.

Although Mr. Gyamfi issued a public statement on Sunday, 11 May, expressing regret and describing the gesture as a private act of generosity, the Presidency is reportedly treating the issue with urgency due to its potential political and reputational consequences.
