Social Media Storm as Chef Faila Faces Backlash for Criticising No-Show Musicians
Celebrity chef Failatu Abdul-Razak, basking in the success of her 227-hour cookathon at the Modern City Hotel, found herself in hot water just a day after the culinary marathon concluded. Social media erupted with controversy as Chef Faila faced criticism for expressing disappointment in the absence of A-list musicians, including Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, and Samini, at her Guinness World Record Cook-A-Thon attempt in Tamale.
The talented chef, known for her impressive cooking feats, shared her disappointment during an interview with Joy Prime on Friday, January 12, 2024. Chef Faila revealed that she had anticipated the support of these renowned musicians, particularly Shatta Wale, citing his earlier commitment on Facebook to visit her—a gesture he previously extended to Afua Asantewaa Aduonum during her singathon.
“If it was something bad about the North, everyone would have been talking about it. Not a single big musician showed up for North on this project. Not Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, Samini, etc.,” Chef Faila expressed during the interview. Despite acknowledging Kwabena Kwabena’s presence, she conveyed her expectations of more support from the artists she admires.
The comments didn’t sit well with a section of social media users, including those who had passionately supported her during the cookathon. Many accused Chef Faila of being ungrateful and entitled, urging her to focus on appreciating those who did attend instead of criticising those who couldn’t.
Chef Faila’s Guinness World Record feat, which took place from January 1st to 10th at the Modern City Hotel in Tamale, garnered significant attention. She completed the marathon in 227 hours, 00 minutes, and 02 seconds.
