Areas to Experience Power Outages Today, May 8, Due to ECG Planned Maintenance

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced scheduled maintenance activities across parts of the country today, Thursday, May 8, 2025. The planned and emergency maintenance works are aimed at improving power distribution systems and ensuring reliable electricity supply.
According to a public notice from ECG, the maintenance efforts will affect sections of the Ashanti, Central, and Greater Accra regions, with power interruptions expected to begin at 9:00 a.m. and ending at various times depending on the location.
Ashanti Region
Both planned and emergency maintenance exercises are scheduled in the Ashanti Region.
- Emergency Maintenance:
Power will be interrupted from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in Tetrem, Boamang, and surrounding areas as ECG undertakes urgent maintenance to enhance service delivery. - Planned Maintenance (9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.):
The following areas will be affected:
- Group 1: BRRI, CRI, Abirem, Antoa, Adesina, Kenyase, Bosore, Akate Farms, Nwamase, Brofoyedru, Garden City, Duase and nearby communities
- Group 2: Akyease, Tikrom, Baworo, Adako Jachie, Raktia Farms, Agyiriwaa, Akokoamon, Kyerekrom, Paakoso, Aprade and surrounding areas
- Group 1: BRRI, CRI, Abirem, Antoa, Adesina, Kenyase, Bosore, Akate Farms, Nwamase, Brofoyedru, Garden City, Duase and nearby communities
These planned activities are part of ECG’s broader initiative to strengthen the region’s power infrastructure and ensure stable electricity delivery.
Central Region
In the Central Region, maintenance work will be carried out from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., affecting:
- Elmina Shell, African Pot, CP, Iture, Abakam, Duakro and nearby areas.
ECG has apologized for the disruption and assured customers that power will be restored promptly after completion of the work.
Greater Accra Region
Residents in Chain Homes Estate, Teshie New England, and surrounding communities will also experience outages due to planned maintenance scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Customer Advisory
ECG has expressed regret over the inconvenience these outages may cause and emphasized the importance of the maintenance work in improving service reliability.
“ECG regrets the inconvenience that will arise out of this exercise,” the company noted in its regional statements.
Customers in all affected areas are encouraged to plan ahead and treat all electrical appliances as live throughout the period.
